Case No. 5 - Ram Prasad Chaulagain

Mr. Ram Prasad Chaulagian, 20 years old male patient presented to us with left hand & forearm machine crush injury without possible salvage after 16 days of the injury. Initially he was managed at other centre in Dharan. At presentation to us on 22 Jan, 2004, his wounds were foul smelling with all the tendons in necrosis and exposed. He was immediately taken for emergency surgery and below elbow amputation was done. The patient was given daily wound care, antibiotics, analgesics and physiotherapy. After good granulation split thickness skin grafting was done. Graft is taken more than 80%. Patient is explained about the possibility of prosthesis fitting in the future.
