Dr Chakra Raj Pandey,
MD Orthopaedic Surgeon -
Chairman, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Medicare National
Hospital and Research Center has been trained in Turkey, in Hacettepe
University (1985-1997). He did both his undergraduate medical education
and five years of orthopaedic residentship in the same university. Dr
Pandey has been busy in promoting modern orthopaedics in Nepal since his
return in May 1997. He has helped to start Knee Joint Replacement
Surgery, Ilizarov's Technology, Iliac Osteotomy for pediatric hip
dislocations and Spinal work on scoliosis and has further strengthened
modern trauma management, arthroscopic advancement in Nepal. He worked
at B & B Hospital till the end of June 2002 for about five years until
assuming new post as the chairperson of Department of Orthopaedics at
Medicare Hospital. He has been involved in helping underprivileged
children on charity basis in the Hospital and Rehabilitation Center for
Disabled Children (HRDC) for more than five years until the end of June
2002. Dr Pandey has extensive surgical experience in all aspects of
orthopaedic surgery and presently focuses on shoulder and knee
arthroscopic and reconstructive surgeries.
Dr Pandey is the founding member of Asia Pacific Knee Society and has
extensively taken part in related international meetings and seminars.
He was the guest speaker at Japanese Arthroscopy Association's meeting
in Tokyo (1-2 December, 2000) for "Future Development of Arthroscopic
Surgery in Asia". He has upgraded his education visiting different
orthopaedic Centers including SCOI in Los Angeles, Shriner's Hospital in
Minneapolis and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He also delivered
lectures titled "Orthopedics in the Developing World, Nepalese
Perspective" at Shriners Hospital in Minneapolis and Children's Hospital
of Philadelphia. He took Advanced Deformity Course from Dr Dror Paley,
MD in Baltimore in 2002. He is the winner of American Academy of
Orthopedic Surgeons-OLC International Scholarship for 2003, entitled
"Current Techniques in Knee Arthroplasty: Unicondylar, Primary and
Revision". He is an AAOS
International Affiliate Member.
He participated as invited speaker at the 7th congress of Turkish
Society of Sports Traumatology Arthroscopy and Knee Surgery combined
with the 3rd Congress of Asia-Pacific Knee Society (APKS) (1-4 November,
2004) in Ankara, Turkey, where he spoke on "Painful Total Knee Joint, An
Overview". He presented two of his papers regarding knee joints in Asia
Pacific Knee Society in Korea in September, 2006. Dr Pandey did his
shoulder arthroscopy fellowship in 2007 with Dr Howard Sweeney, chairman
of Global Arthroscopy Foundation, in Chicago. He has also built a small
sweeney knot-tyeing lab for young doctors willing to learn shoulder
arthroscopy in his department. He is also one of the country managers
for SIGN trauma non-profit work,
founded by Dr Lewis Zirkle, Jr.
Dr Pandey is interested in involving a team of orthopaedic surgeons to
promote best possible orthopaedic care for people of different economic
and social background. Dr Pandey also chairs the
National Musculoskeletal Charity and Research Foundation dedicated
in helping underprivileged patients with musculoskeletal disabilities.

Dr Bhaskar Raj Pant, MD -
Orthopaedic Resident, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology,
Medicare National Hospital and Research Center. Dr Pant did his
studies from Institute of Medicine, Chuvash State University, Russia.
On returning to Nepal, Dr Pant enrolled for a year of internship in
B&B Hospital where he practiced in all areas of medicine with
primary focus in Orthopaedics. While at B&B Hospital, Dr Pant also
volunteered at Hospital and Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children (HRDC).
Dr Pant is interested in learning and promoting
orthopaedic education and practice using innovative digital imaging and
computing technologies. He is constantly involved in orthopaedic clinical
research and has done work on proximal humeral fracture, bone tumors and
orthopaedic problems with HIV patients in Nepal.
Dr Pant is currently undergoing specialization at Davao Medical Center in the Philippines.

Dr. Byapak Paudel,
MS
Orthopaedic Surgeon - A Medical graduate from
Ankara University,
Turkey, received his
degree in Orthopaedics from
Kathmandu University,
Nepal. Dr Paudel
has been working with Dr Pandey for last 9 months at
Medicare
National
Hospital. He has
also been working as a visiting orthopaedic surgeon at
Lumbini
Medical
College, Tansen. He
has shown special interest in spine. |

Dr. Prakash Gyawali, MS
Orthopaedic Surgeon -
Dr Gyawali is a medical graduate from
Bangladesh. He also
received his
MS degree in orthopaedics from NITOR,
Bangladesh. He is also a visiting orthopaedic surgeon
at
Lumbini
Medical
College, Tansen. |
